RECORDING GUIDELINES

Each student auditioning will produce a digital file (an unlisted YouTube video - see instructions below) of the graduation level piece (Graduation Repertoire Requirements). Piano accompaniment is encouraged, but not required. Please include the link for this video in your graduation application. The SAGA Graduation Committee will email the link directly to the designated reviewer.

At the beginning of the video, students should state the following information:
  • Name
  • Age
  • Title of Piece
  • Teacher's Name
  • Size of Instrument
  • Date of Recording

Reviewers will be experienced and respected SAGA teachers chosen by the SAGA Graduation Committee, and will be using the Suzuki Association of the Americas Performance Descriptors as a guideline to evaluate each performance. Students will be evaluated in the following areas:
  • Posture
  • Tone
  • Technical Accuracy
  • Musicianship
  • Stage Presence (including memorization)
Reviewers will watch the performance recording, offer written remarks, and if the recording displays mastery of the repertoire, will invite the student to perform in the Graduation Concert.

It is the responsibility of the studio teacher to make sure his/her students are prepared to pass the graduation level! If a recording does not meet expectations, the studio teacher will be contacted by the SAGA Graduation Committee.
